UltraNet Services / Ultra Tech - NETOPS Responsibilities

1.0 Policy

It is the policy of ULTRA TECH to identify the responsibilities of every employee, team, office, or department.

2.0 Scope

All full or part time employees of ULTRA TECH working in NETOPS bear the following responsibilities.

3.0 Guidelines

NETOPS responsibilities can be broken down into 3 categories: Helpdesk, Network, and Telecommunications (TELECOMM). The following paragraphs detail each category of responsibility.

1. Helpdesk

The Helpdesk responsibilities include assisting all network users with computer, copier, printer, FAX, telephone, pager, and network related problems as well as reallocating, purchasing, and retiring hardware and software. NETOPS is also responsible for keeping an Inventory of all computers, copiers, printers, and FAXs. Finally, NETOPS is responsible for providing users with computer related training, plus keeping concise accurate documentation of the procedures and policies used to provide Helpdesk services.

2. Network

The Network responsibilities include monitoring & troubleshooting servers, hubs, switches, and network services, including backups. NETOPS is also responsible for keeping concise and accurate documentation of the network including technical drawings, server descriptions, and inventory. Finally, NETOPS responsibilities also include recommending upgrades whenever they become necessary.

3. TELECOMM

The TELECOMM responsibilities include maintaining the phone and voice mail systems including but not limited to the addition new users, assignment of extension numbers, and maintenance of trunk, analog, & digital lines. NETOPS is also responsible for the maintenance and assignment of pagers plus keeping and inventory of all the telephones, pagers, and other telephone related equipment. Concise and accurate documentation of the procedures and policies used to manage the telephone system must also be maintained.
